Kenai peninsula steelhead fishing trips are offered for both the fly angler and the light spin tackle angler. Drift boat trips and walk and wade trips are our preferred ways to pursue these hard fighting fish. Warm clothing, hand warmers and perseverance have paid off recently on the Kenai Peninsula Steelhead fishing streams. Beads or leeches fished dead drift or down and across streamer style with a Teeny 200 if the streams are too high. In other words – typical finicky Steelhead fishing but the catching has been good. The steelhead run seems to be steady and the only thing that gets in the way is ice in our guides though the last few days haven’t been that cold though.
The middle river section of the Kenai continues to be great for nice, fat rainbows trout. The dolly Varden are mostly gone now, off to do the spawning thing up the tributaries. So it is just you, the silver salmon, and the rainbows trout as far as
fishing on the kenai river in concerned.
